With only three paid staff, Cabrini Immigrant Services of NYC depends almost entirely on the good hearts of our community partners and volunteers. CIS-NYC offers flexible volunteer opportunities to suit all interests. Our volunteers are a critical part of our success and are essential to our Cabrini family. We will help you develop valuable life skills and relationships while you give back to your local community. Whether you are interested in coordinating events, working with our Justice for Immigrants group, hosting workshops, or working in the pantry, there are always places for you to get involved!

Here are some possible ways you can get involved:

  • Food Pantry Volunteers: Needed Mondays and Tuesdays to assist with unloading shipments, organizing the pantry, and distributing food.

  • Chinese [Cantonese] Translators: CIS-NYC serves a large Chinese population and is always seeking Cantonese-speaking and literate volunteers to assist with Tuesday’s food distribution, with phone calls, and with translating various documents.

  • Technological Development: CIS-NYC is presently looking to amplify some of its work and is looking for volunteers to aid in the process. Whether you are great with social media, a Photoshop pro, or an excellent programmer with Microsoft Access, we could find ways to utilize your skills.

  • Marketing and Media: Do you love utilizing your artistic or writing skills? Work with us to help amplify our presence in the city through creative means!

  • Course and Workshop Instructors: If you are interested in sharing your knowledge and expertise with Cabrini Clients, whether it’s English, Spanish, civics, immigration law, or even something fun like knitting or cooking, contact us with your ideas!

  • Paralegal and Pro Bono Law: If you are an immigration lawyer or paralegal looking to donate your time and expertise, contact us regarding our present needs.

If you are interested in volunteering with us please send an email to info@cis-nyc.org or call us at 212-791-4590 ext. 100.
