CIS-NYC’s volunteers are a critical part of our success and are essential to our Cabrini family. We are grateful for the support of the many committed volunteers who have contributed to our work over the past two decades. See below for information about volunteer opportunities at CIS-NYC.

  • Food Pantry Volunteers

    • If you are interested in volunteering at the Food Pantry please contact our Food Pantry Coordinator, Paul Kwon, at foodpantry@cis-nyc.org

    • We are always in need of non-perishable food donations so that we can focus our limited resources on obtaining fresh produce. If you are interested in hosting a food drive for CIS-NYC, please contact our Food Pantry Coordinator, Paul Kwon, at foodpantry@cis-nyc.org

  • Chinese [Cantonese] Translators: CIS-NYC serves a large Chinese population and is always seeking Cantonese-speaking and literate volunteers to assist with Tuesday’s food distribution, with phone calls, and with translating various documents.

  • Administrative Volunteers: We often need help with filing, updating databases, and more. If you are interested, please contact our Office Manager, Brenda Barsallo at bbarsallo@cis-nyc.org
  • Paralegal/Immigration Attorney: If you are an immigration attorney or paralegal looking to donate your time and expertise, contact us regarding our present needs.

  • Justice for Immigrants Volunteer: Make calls to invite members to monthly workshops. Must speak Spanish fluently.

  • Photographer: We are looking for an experienced photographer who can come in a couple of times to take some professional photos of our work to be used in promotional materials and to photograph special events such as our annual benefit.

  • Graphic Designer: To assist with designing promotional materials.

  • Host a fundraiser or collection for CIS-NYC: If you are unable to help with any of the areas listed above or have limited availability during the week, another way you can have a large impact on our work is by hosting a fundraiser or collection. This can range from something small with just your friends and family, to something larger at your school, place of worship, or workplace. We have had people do birthday fundraisers, musicians host benefit shows, workplace fundraisers, etc. You could also hold a food drive for our food pantry (see above) or a gift drive for our annual holiday gift distribution. If you are interested in doing something like this, reach out to our Director of Community Programs & Development, Ella, at ellanimmo@cis-nyc.org or 212-791-4590 ext. 107. She can help you brainstorm ideas and plan an event.
